ENDOWMENT

The newly established Endowment program is designed to enable the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs to meet their year-to-year operating costs no matter what type of economic climate exists at the time. The recent global recession has highlighted the need for the shelter's financial stability at ALL times. Board members have witnessed a drop in critical financial donations while at the same time the shelter has taken in more and more homeless animals in need. The Endowment project is designed to meet this financial gap.

All Endowment donations will be placed in a separate account. The principal monies donated to the Endowment will never be touched, but the interest earned from this account will be applied to daily operating costs at the animal shelter.

This Endowment Fund will therefore allow the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs to successfully fulfill its Mission Statement, in both good and bad economic times:

"Our mission is to provide a safe haven for animals in need, promote adoptions, reunite lost pets with their owners, and humanely reduce pet overpopulation through community education and aggressive spay/neuter programs."

Artists for the Animals
The Humane Society of Pagosa Springs is working closely with both local and regional artists on a long-term endowment fundraising project. Artists from Pagosa Springs, Durango, and Albuquerque have joined forces to support the shelter by donating a portion of their sales of current or commissioned artwork to the Endowment fund. Some artists are available for commissioned pieces only due to gallery contract constraints, others have both commission options and artwork available for immediate sales. All of the participating artists will donate from 30 to 50% of their sales price to the fund, and each artist fund contribution is listed below their name. Interested art/animal patrons may click the Inquiry button found below the artist's name when they find an artist whose work appeals to them.
